10. Benefits Of Adult Coloring
Why You Should Take It Serious.

Story, benefits of coloring and product recommendation

 by Dr. Matthew Wildfang

Recently, for my birthday I received the above Porsche Coloring Book from my wife Clara, who like most wives has an uncanny ability to find presents their husbands are secretly wishing and hoping for. This particular coloring book I received focused on Porsche from all of the years of Porsche's history and was very elegantly done and appealed to my sense of style, and love of sports cars.

So I was looking forward to relaxing with my book, enjoying a glass of wine, with some Jazz providing the mood that would take me away ...

That is... until my young 7 year old son Dennis saw the book and took immediate control of the situation. "Daddy lookit Porscha we need to color them NOW"

So without hesitation, or much choice I abandoned my perfect plan, grabbed the coloring book and  got settled in on the living room floor with Dennis.

If you have kids you pretty much know, I had NO CHOICE, or the time to distract him with something more important like cleaning up their room or homework or the like.

He was "locked on" and this mission was a  "GO." So I looked at my wife, she is smiling and says "the colors are in the drawer."

So, we are there coloring (actually together), and It wasn't until I'd been coloring for a few minutes that it dawned on me that "this is really, really calming me down, fun and not bad at all."

On the surface one might think that coloring in cars in non-reality color patterns and schemes for an adult can seem mindless or even juvenile – if done alone, that is – but in practice, it’s pretty much an instant unplug, and has numerous, and I mean numerous, benefits.

"Adult coloring, believe it or not, is a real thing. And it's huge."

Several of my car friends, as well as my next-door neighbor and his neighbor, are doing it.
Adults from all walks of life seem to be turning to coloring books as a stress reliever, therapy, and just plain fun.

But before you dismiss this coloring craze as silly, a new type of delusion, or "just another fad" or for people with way too much free time, read what scientific studies and doctors have to say about how art can enhance emotional, mental and physical health and even in some cases prevent strokes or heart attacks.

It’s something you should take very seriously, if you are over 45, or having a difficult time dealing with stress the NEW reality we are all living in now. If this is you or someone you know you should read on, it could change your life.

My Personal Review

What Others Are Saying About Porsche Coloring...

Coloring, as previously said, stimulates brain activity and activates the creative and logical parts of the brain.Coloring is a good 'mind exercise'  since it engages both sides of the cerebral cortex, which is a vital control mechanism for motor skills and coordination. When you are coloring, you're using the logic-based part of your brain to make decisions about color and pattern. You use the artistic part of your brain when you want to pair or combine colors.Coloring exercises all hemispheres of the brain, so it's a win-win situation!

Have you tried the Eat, Pray, Love method of meditation but struggled with silent meditation?Fortunately, it isn't the only way to regain your equilibrium.Carl Jung, a psychologist, believed that coloring could help patients feel many of the benefits of meditation, such as inner relaxation and self-awareness.Jung claimed that coloring a pattern represented the complexity of one's own self, and he observed that several of his patients doodled circle drawings. He used the concept and practice of coloring to help his patients feel better, noting that making and coloring patterns represented "a safe refuge of inner reconciliation and wholeness."

Worried about your bills, your health, your family, or your financial future? All of the aforementioned?Coloring can actually aid in the replacement of negative thought patterns with more positive ones.Coloring requires a lot of attention, which makes it difficult to focus on problems, and it's common for people's negative thinking habits to fade away while they color. When ‘colorists' react favorably to the color combination and the artistic pattern, the negativity is replaced by more optimistic thoughts.Dr. Stan Rodski, a neuropsychologist, demonstrated that coloring had actual neurological implications, saying, "We began seeing changes in heart rate, changes in brainwaves...the most incredible stuff happened."

Controlling the body's tension activation mechanism (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal unit...) is an essential part of mental and physical health. Many that have control of how their bodies react to trauma are more resilient and have better coping mechanisms.Learning to self-soothe after a trauma is critical to coping, and many people are discovering that coloring helps them cope with difficult situations without being engrossed in the resulting emotions.Researchers have discovered that coloring can help with a number of issues, including debilitating illness.According to a 2006 study by Thomas Jefferson University researchers, coloring and other forms of art therapy were critical in reducing stress, anxiety, and fear during cancer care.

That's right. Coloring can help you find and make new friends.Coloring has grown in popularity to the point that coloring groups are springing up in some neighborhoods and cities where passionate "colorists" are taking advantage of the trend. While coloring is historically thought of as a solitary activity, these clubs aim to encourage positive social interaction among community members. It is especially beneficial for people with social anxiety because it allows them to engage meaningfully with new people without the pressure that often comes with social gatherings.

Today's life is a rat race of achievements, pressures, and competitions.Coloring is a low-pressure practice, which may be self-evident.It is impossible to win, lose, or even participate in the game. After a long day of work or stress, doing an activity that takes the "middle path" and isn't dependent on a time limit, a "right" response, or a competition, is liberating and can be extremely cathartic and restorative.

It's no secret that today's society is more distracted than ever before. It can be very difficult to concentrate when you really need to, due to the hustle and bustle of daily life and the messages that *ping!* you continuously from your phone or tablet.Coloring will give you a way out of this!A Lesley University art therapy student recently attested to the increased use of coloring books in her university lectures to help students concentrate and focus.“We have some adult coloring books at my site to offer the clients,” she said, adding that those who have trouble focusing in group therapy discussions also benefit from the use of a coloring book.

Coloring books can help us relax in stressful circumstances, but they can also train our brains, making us more effective, rational, and mentally powerful. That's right.Coloring will help you become smarter and healthier.Coloring “opens up the frontal lobe of the brain – the home of planning and problem solving – and focuses the mind,” according to Leslie Marshall, a professional psychologist.Coloring allows the brain to concentrate selectively, which may boost cognitive skills. Furthermore, according to psychologist Gloria Martinez Ayala, coloring is so effective at stimulating the cerebral cortex that it can help delay or avoid diseases associated with aging, such as dementia.

Some may consider coloring to be trivial, but when was the last time you did anything just for the fun of doing it?

Coloring can be used as a kind of “me-time” as well as a way to boost self-esteem.

In reality, according to a 2012 study, participants in a drawing and painting class registered an increase of 80 percent in confidence and motivation. Other research has linked art to positive self-realization and self-representation, as well as increased community participation.

Coloring certainly has progressed from a children's activity to a valid form of therapy and meditation for adults in recent years.

Now that you know why you should color, let's take a look at a coloring book you could start with.

It strays from the typical Floral and Animal books readily available these days, and is more geared towards the technically inclined. The book I am referring to is Porsche Coloring which made it's debut several years ago for being the first Adult Coloring Book in the World to focus entirely on Porsche. Taking over a year to make It is growing in popularity and widely respected and held in high regard in Porsche and Sport car circles.

Some collect it just because it is so different, others gift it, and yet others will spend enjoyable hours with their friends and loved ones letting their imaginations run wild. As i previously mentioned I have gotten so much enjoyment and personal relief from this book that I simply had to share it with you. Please find below a quick review for you to help entice you get started...

Researchers discovered that coloring activities help to calm the amygdala, a part of the brain that is triggered in stressful or frightening circumstances. While this is happening, coloring stimulates the parts of the brain that support imagination and deeper levels of creativity.Nancy Curry and Tim Kasser conducted a study in 2005 that showed that people who colored in books had significantly lower anxiety levels. This is particularly beneficial for those who experience anxiety on a regular basis or as a side effect of conditions such as dealing with the aftermath of Covid, PTSD or depression.

...I could go on and one about how great this product is and what it can do for you, but I won't. You don't have the time.

So, let me give you the short and the skinny of what is relevant for you to make the decision to get this book for yourself and start bringing in more light into your life.
